    Brides Wedding Tips

    Bridesmaids

Personalized bridesmaids gifts such as cashmere scarves, personalized bridesmaid’s jewelry or other bridal accessories are always valuable as sentimental gifts once the wedding is over. Remember as you shop for a bridesmaid gift that you are buying gifts to honor friends that you treasure, make sure that your bridesmaids gifts are as unique as your friends themselves.

Bridal Beauty Tips for your Wedding Day

    What to DO

    — Have a pre-wedding consultation with a professional makeup artist to know ahead of time what to use.

    — Do your makeup before dressing.

    — When applying your makeup wear a button shirt that can be easily removed when its time to dress.

    — Have your makeup done as close to the ceremony as possible.

    — Get a facial two weeks prior to your wedding. If never had a facial before try this 3 months prior to your wedding.

    — If using foundation, be sure to have an exact match to your skin tone.

    — Use powdered rice papers to eliminate any shine.

    — Use a light to medium lipstick that is long wearing. If you will be having black and white photos then add a layer of lip gloss

    — Exfoliating your lips will result in your lipstick lasting longer.

    — Use translucent powder to set your makeup.

    — Blend, blend, and blend again to make sure all your makeup is smooth and even.

    — If you are prone to red eyes use eye drops prior to the ceremony.

    —  Use water proof mascara just in case the tears of joy appear.

    — Charcoal, navy, or mahogany are your best options for eyeliner. Black or brown may look too severe, especially if your wedding will be held during the daytime and/or outdoors.

    — Place a towel over your head prior to slipping into your gown to avoid getting makeup on your gown.

    — Don’t forget your blush! A bit of color on your cheeks is like an instant face lift.

    — If you’ve had your hair professionally done and you will be removing your veil, then have the stylist show your mom or bridesmaids how to fix your hairstyle.

    — A week before your wedding practice with your makeup – practice, practice, and practice some more, until you perfect the look you want for your wedding day.

    — Get a pedicure at least a week prior to your wedding to ensure you are not dealing with dry or ragged nails.

    — If your wearing sandals then about a month before your wedding start your foot treatment so your feet look as good as the rest of you.

    What NOT to DO

    — Do not do your own makeup. Have a professional makeup artist or a friend do it. Let your loved ones pamper you!

    — Keep your foundation Light for overall evenness is best.

    — Don’t use shiny or shimmering products on dry skin

    –Don’t overuse lip gloss

    — Don’t have a facial within the previous 48 hours of your wedding. Facials can occasionally have unexpected results

    — Don’t pop any pre-wedding pimples, instead use Visine to take the red out.

    Groom Wedding Tips

    — Be there before the bride! Never, ever be late – and make sure your half of the wedding party are on time too, even the ring bearer. Camp out if you have to.

    — Even though it’s bad luck to see the bride in her dress, don’t be ignorant of the colors she’s choosing for the rest of her wedding party. It would be a lovely touch if some of your accessories (cummerbunds, bow ties, kerchiefs, boutonnières) complimented hers. Black is a safe bet, but to coordinate shows thoughtfulness.

    — It’s the groom’s responsibility to pay for the bride’s bouquet. However, at the end of the evening the tradition is for her to throw it to her guests to help them follow her up the aisle. A lovely touch might be to surprise her with another bouquet as your new wife at the honeymoon suite.

    — Consider an alternative to the tuxedo. Traditionally the morning suit was chosen for a daytime wedding, a tuxedo for an evening. For the modern marriage, a well-cut suit can be an alternative to the tux.

    — At the wedding breakfast – the first meal after the wedding (i.e. usually at the reception), if the wedding guests decide to toast the couple, it is NOT appropriate to join them in the toast – but rather you should acknowledge the toaster gratefully by looking at them and then thanking them after the toast. To join the toast would be to concur with the toaster and shows a lack of humility.

    — As the groom you will be required to make a speech. A few points to remember: Most importantly, compliment your new spouse and don’t be afraid to openly express you affection for her. Then similar praise is due the bridesmaids. Obviously you will thank your parents, the bride’s parents and your groomsmen. And if you want to win a few points, make special mention of the bride’s mother and how lovely she looks this evening….and don’t forget your own mother either.

    — Obviously “the mates” will be there and all eager to toast your new demise. Remember, this is your wedding night, not your stag, so watch your intake of alcohol. Drunk is not the condition in which to spend your first night of marital bliss.

    — If you are not leaving immediately on a honeymoon, organize in advance what you are going to do for your first night together and if it is to be a hotel, pick a nice one and enjoy using the room service.

    — Remember that you are now a couple and what you want is not necessarily the top priority, be thoughtful and attentive to your spouse’s needs.

    — Don’t forget to return rented tuxedos before you depart on your honeymoon as late charges can be exorbitant.

  • Wedding Preparation

You’ve met the right man, and you have the perfect ring on your finger.

This is the time to plan the perfect wedding. Wedding planning may be stressful and upsetting at times because you to make things perfect for you and your husband to be. All it requires is a little communication and patience while you make what seems like a never-ending list of choices and decisions.

Just like with any big happening, it gets a good deal more manageable if you break your wedding planning down into smaller items to focus on.

First item on your wedding prep list is to decide on the kind of reception you may like to have. Will this be a large wedding, or a more intimate gathering of friends and family? Talk with your relatives and soon to be in-laws to get an idea of what their needs are, considering that their concept of “small” may be very different than yours. After you have a general idea of how many guests you will have, you can then visit reception centers and talk with their representatives about what they offer.

Remember that the places you choose to visit have usually hosted many weddings before yours, and they can be a valuable resource for suggestions that you may not have thought about. It is normal to not have all the answers immediately, and many reception sites will gladly let you take their information so you can spend time looking at what they offer. If you have questions, be sure to ask them, as this is a good way to see how flexible the site and staff will be to meet your individual needs. Of course, you will need to determine your wedding budget, as the reception will be where you spend most of your wedding budget.

The next item on your wedding prep list is to choose the food and the wedding cake. It’s a great idea to sample the food at each reception site, preferably the same food you might choose for your wedding. The time of day that you choose to get married will also impact your food choice. If you choose a mid-morning wedding, you might prefer to have a brunch buffet, while an evening wedding calls for more a more formal presentation.

Whatever you choose, do not hesitate to ask for references from the company that will be providing the food at your reception. These references will take you beyond the food preparation and help you evaluate service and accuracy.

Next on the wedding prep list is flowers, invitations, music and photography. These are individual choices you make based on the style you seek for your wedding. These are also areas where you can trim some of your wedding budget if you need to. Considering a simplified invitation and less formally arranged flowers can save you hundreds of dollars.

Keep in mind that the “model wedding” does not necessarily need to be the most costly one. Use your creativity and you will find that your wedding is just as perfect as the man you have chosen to marry.
